A great, highly-engaged group turned out to Eco-Integrity Alliance’s “Threatened Forest Hike” in Nederland on Sunday. On this windy day, attendees took a 1.5-mile winter stroll through a forest threatened by impending logging—including old-growth!—adjacent to Nederland’s Big Springs neighborhood in Boulder County Open Space and Roosevelt National Forest
Hikers saw for themselves the damage already done to our public forests from controversial “fuel reduction” logging and how more of the same can increase the wildfire threat to our neighborhood, while learning about the latest wildfire-forest science being ignored by decision makers.
To be kept in the loop about future hikes to threatened and/or previously logged forests or to take action to protect our forests and communities, please contact eia [at] eco-integrityalliance [dot] org.
